Principal's Message

Hello Seahawks,

This is Dr. Robert Rasmussen with the OVHS Weekly Update.  I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

There will be school this week Monday through Friday.  Monday will be a Traditional Bell Schedule with Periods 1-6.  Tuesday and Thursday will be an Odd Block Schedule with Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7.  Wednesday and Friday will be an Even Block Schedule with Periods 2, 4, 6, and 7.

This week is Prom Spirit Week.  There will be spirit dress up days and events planned throughout the week.  On Friday, we will be having our Prom and Spring Sports Rally.  This week is sure going to be a very fun and spirited week.  During the Rally on Friday, OVHS will be formally recognized as a School of Excellence award winner and will be presented a plaque by the Orange County Department of Education.

This year's prom is taking place on Saturday, May 11th at the Bowers Museum.  The theme of this year's prom is a Masquerade Ball.  Seahawks, don't delay in purchasing your tickets before the prices increases. Also, don't forget to get your permission slip signed by the supervision office before purchasing your ticket.

This Tuesday, April 30th is our Future Seahawk Night.  I am looking forward to meeting all of our incoming 9th grade Seahawks and parents.  Welcome to the OV Family!

Don't forget to mark your calendars for this coming Saturday, May 4th.  OVHS will be hosting the OV Overdrive Car Show.  This free event starts at 10am and includes some pretty amazing cars, music, food, and raffle prizes. Bring your whole family to this event!  I hope to see you there!

Ocean View will be hosting a parent presentation with guest speaker, Tony Orozco, on May 16th from 5:30pm-7:30pm.  The topic of the presentation will be "Parenting and Mental Health through Positive Discipline" and it will be presented in English and Spanish.  Dinner will be served for free and childcare will be provided.

It's hard to believe but there is less than two months left in the school year.  Seahawks, if you are struggling in any of your classes and you need a little extra help, don't forget to ask your teacher.  Your teacher is your best resource.  Additional assistance is also available at lunch every day with our AVID tutors as well as online tutoring through tutor.com.

That's all for me!  I hope you have an amazing week!  And remember, you can't spell lOVe without OV!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rasmussen
