Principal's Message

Hello Seahawks,

This is Dr. Robert Rasmussen with the OVHS Weekly Update.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

There will be school this week Monday through Friday.  Monday will be a Traditional Bell Schedule with Periods 1-6.  Tuesday and Thursday will be an Odd Block Schedule with Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7.  Wednesday and Friday will be an Even Block Schedule with Periods 2, 4, 6, and 7.

This year's prom is taking place this Saturday, May 11th at the Bowers Museum.  The theme of this year's prom is a Masquerade Ball.  Seahawks, don't delay in purchasing your tickets before the price increases. Also, don't forget to get your permission slip signed by the supervision office before purchasing your ticket.

During the month of May, we will be celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month.  We will be recognizing the important cultural contributions Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made throughout our nation's history.

Ocean View will be hosting a parent presentation with guest speaker, Tony Orozco, on May 16th from 5:30pm-7:30pm.  The topic of the presentation will be "Parenting and Mental Health through Positive Discipline" and it will be presented in both English and Spanish, taking place in the OVHS Theater.  Dinner will be served for free and childcare will be provided.

It's hard to believe but there is less than two months left in the school year.  Seahawks, if you are struggling in any of your classes and you need a little extra help, don't forget to ask your teacher.  Your teacher is your best resource.  Additional assistance is also available at lunch every day with our AVID tutors as well as online tutoring through tutor.com.

That's all for me!  I hope you have a terrific week!  And remember, you can't spell lOVe without OV!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rasmussen
